What is included on the City's utility bill?

Water, sewer, sewer service fee, garbage and recycling, library and water tax. 

How much is a typical City utility bill?

If you do not go over the minimum usage of 3,000 gallons for the 2 months your bill will be $124.18 for a house and $90.18 for an apartment that does not have city garbage/recycling. 

Once you go over the minimum usage your water and sewer rates will go up accordingly based on your specific usage. 

When is the City utility bill due?

Meters are read every 2 months around the 15th.  They are due the following month around the 12th. 

Read meters in the odd months (Jan, March, May, July, Sept, Nov).

Bills are due in the even months (Feb, April, June, Aug, Oct, Dec).

Who provides electric and gas services?

Alliant Energy or Eastern Iowa Light and Power. 

Who provides internet services?

Windstream (Kinetic) and Mediacom (Xtream).

What day is garbage and recycling picked up?

Wednesdays, have totes out by 7am. 

What day is yard waste picked up?

The City picks up yard waste every Monday, March through November.  Yard waste must be in a container, less than 40 lbs, that can be empied and put back in your yard. 

The 3rd Monday of each month, March through November, is chipping day.  You can lay limbs at the curb in a nice pile to be chipped.

When does leaf vacuuming start?

Typically the City will start vacuuming leaves sometime in October and will only vacuum leaves in the fall.

Have your leaves out at the curb in a nice windrow. City will post signs when they will begin. 

Does the City vacuum leaves in the spring?

No, leaf vacuuming only takes place in the fall.  You may put your leaves in with your yard waste in a container for pick up on Mondays. 

When are council meetings?

Regular city council meetings are held the first Monday of the month at City Hall starting at 5:30pm.
